Of Airing Your Dirty (Not) Laundry

What do you do when you feel down? I go to TasteSpotting and start ogling at those gorgeous foods. Instant mood lifter!
Of Christ and Tarts
Sunday, July 11, 2010Cristo Rei facing the city of Lisbon
Somehow the stance looks more like Christ is ready to give an inviting embrace rather than being pinned on the cross.
I can't stop traveling, I'm like a kid in candy store whenever I go somewhere new and strange. I need Herculean strength to leave this job that has given me the privilege to travel extensively.
I might not know you, but will you pray for me?
Of Shedding The Old Skin
Monday, January 04, 2010Friends often said I complain too much. Like to pick on the petty side of life. Moan and groan about the slightest thing. Wash, rinse, repeat.
And so, I'd like to take a new direction with this blog. A picture blog. Let the pictures do all the moaning and lamenting. But of course, I'm allowed to rant once in a while. You don't want me turning into a psycho now, do you?
That picture above was taken last Sept, when Joanne and I went traveling in Central Europe. I still remember that day, walking the length of the Walls of Dubrovnik under the scorching Adriatic sun. The sunlight so bright we're squinting our eyes with the same urgency like a child holding her pee. And then the Bell Tower rang. It's good to be alive isn't it, because then you get to experience moments that fill your senses to the brim.
Happy New Year. May the new year be a blessed one for all.
Of Little Morsels of Delight
Wednesday, November 04, 2009I think I found the perfect basic cupcake recipe. It's so moist you don't even need frosting. Just throw in nuts, chocolate chip, fruits, whatever takes your fancy. Pictured here is Chocolate Chips Orange Peel Rum Cupcakes. Of course, instead of vanilla essence, I used half a pod of vanilla bean. Capture a little happiness today, bake some cupcakes!
Of Berries and Orchid
Friday, May 29, 2009
Nothing announces the arrival of summer like the beautiful, luscious berries screaming "Pick me, pick me" from the market stalls. And so I ended up with a packet each of huge blueberries and strawberries.
The blueberries, I made them into muffins with cinnamon streusel topping. The gooey mess of the berries combined with a subtle hint of cinnamon is a delight.
Then I made a batch of vanilla cupcake with strawberry buttercream frosting using an ingredient I have never used before - vanilla pod. Vanilla is the only edible fruit of the orchid family and it's something that is hard to get in Malaysia and finally, I've managed to lay my hand on one - it's like discovering the G-spot in baking. The smell is just heavenly!
